Tilman Herbrich

Tilman Herbrich has been a lawyer in the area of data protection and technology law at Spirit Legal since 2019 and a partner of the firm since 2023.
His work focuses on national and international data protection law, competition law and IT law. In addition to advising innovative and technology-heavy companies, he is responsible for a large number of individual and association lawsuits in the area of privacy litigation.
As a specialist in advertising technology, he has extensive experience in advising companies on the introduction and enforcement of technologies for obtaining, analysing and enriching customer data for online advertising and e-commerce. Before joining Spirit Legal, Tilman Herbrich worked for many years in the legal department of a market-leading textile group in e-commerce and as a research assistant at the University of Leipzig. He is doing his doctorate there on the topic of "Data protection law implications of advertising in social networks".
Tilman Herbrich has been a co-opted member of the DFG Research Training Group "Privacy and Digitalisation" at the University of Passau since 2014. He regularly publishes in legal journals on current topics in data protection law. Tilman Herbrich completed the internationally recognised additional qualification "Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E)" at the International Association of Privacy Professionals in 2017.
Since 2019, he has been part of the editorial board of the professional journal "Datenschutz-Berater" and a lecturer for the DeutscheAnwaltAkademie in Frankfurt as well as for the "Zentrum Informationsarbeit Bundeswehr" in Straußberg.
