Christian Aretz
Data protection law, information security standards and management systems
Christian Aretz is an expert in German and European data protection law, information security standards and management systems. He has worked as an information security and privacy consultant and officer for national and international companies for over twenty years and is certified as a CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, FIP, CISM, CISA and ISO/IEC 27001 Senior Lead Implementer.
Christian Aretz began his career with an apprenticeship as an IT specialist in systems integration at Siemens AG. He gained further qualifications through various certifications in the areas of data protection, privacy law, information security and the auditing of information systems. His career has taken him through a number of positions with well-known companies. Initially, the author worked as Data Protection and Information Security Officer at Siemens AG. He then deepened his knowledge as Senior Information Security & Data Protection Officer at StayFriends GmbH. He later took on the role of Security Manager Germany and Data Protection Officer at Interoute GmbH. His expertise then brought him to Verimi GmbH, where he worked as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Data Protection Officer. As a consultant, he most recently dealt with the challenges of data protection at Group level at Volkswagen AG.
Today, Christian Aretz is a recognised expert in German and European data protection law, as well as information security standards and management systems. He has more than twenty years’ experience as an information security and privacy consultant and officer for national and international companies. Christian holds a wide range of certifications including CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, FIP, CISM, CISA and ISO/IEC 27001 Senior Lead Implementer, demonstrating his extensive expertise and commitment to the field.
In his spare time, he is active in the Rotary Club Berlin-Berliner Schloss, regularly performs as a classical singer on the world’s major stages, and dives deep into the Red Sea or the Gulf of Thailand as an Advanced Open Water Diver.
